Record warmth is predicted for Sacramento this week as a persistent high pressure system continues to exert influence on the region’s weather.

The National Weather Service places the strong high pressure just off the north coast of California. The dry and unseasonably mild weather pattern brings with it afternoon temperatures 10 to 20 degrees above normal.

The forecast high for Tuesday in Sacramento is 68 degrees, which is also the record for the date. That mark was set in 2012.

There is a good chance the all-time high could be shattered on Wednesday when the NWS forecasts a maximum temperature of 71 degrees. The warmest Jan. 15 on record in Sacramento is 68 degrees, which was set in 2003.
