Comedian jokes about chicken legs

Re “Boneless, skinless chicken breasts rule – but why?” (Forum, Jan. 5): The discussion of chicken legs versus chicken breasts reminded me of comedian Buddy Hackett’s story. Hackett said once when he was driving down a country road to a gig in the Catskills, he was passed by a three-legged chicken resembling the Road Runner. He followed the chicken to a farm where he saw hundreds of three-legged chickens running around like sprinters on steroids. Hackett asked the farmer why three-legged chickens? The farmer said he, his wife and son all liked chicken legs better than breasts, so he had developed a three-legged chicken. When Hackett asked how the drumsticks tasted, the chicken farmer said he didn't know because he was never able to catch the chickens.
