San Francisco tech entrepreneur Andy Miller, who is also a member of the Sacramento Kings ownership group, will be the keynote speaker at the Sacramento Regional Technology Alliance’s 11th annual TechEdge event March 7 in Sacramento.

The annual luncheon – from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento, 1209 L St. – also recognizes the region’s technology companies.

Miller’s company, Leap Motion Inc., has created a plug-in device that lets users control computers via in-air movement of fingers and hands. Miller has an extensive tech background predating Leap Motion.

Miller started his first company, WatchPoint Media, out of the internationally known Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab. At Apple Inc., Miller served as vice president of mobile advertising, reporting directly to Steve Jobs.

“Andy’s deep and varied tech experience, and of course his more recent role with the Kings, is highly relevant to the Sacramento region’s tech community,” said Meg Arnold, SARTA CEO.

Individual TechEdge tickets are $90 through Feb. 21. Through Jan. 22, SARTA said, purchasers will receive a special discount on tickets to the Jan. 24 Sacramento Kings home game against the Indiana Pacers. That game will feature “a unique technology element,” SARTA said.
