Police seek witnesses to fatal Tuesday morning crash in Natomas

Published: Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 - 6:32 pm

Sacramento police would like to talk with anyone who witnessed a violent crash Tuesday morning in the Natomas area, killing a Sonoma teenager.

The single-vehicle crash was reported about 6:12 a.m. in the area of Duckhorn Drive and Far Niente Way. Police determined that the driver of a 1997 Acura Integra failed to negotiate a curve on Duckhorn Drive. The car left the roadway and struck a light pole, according to a Police Department news release.

The driver, a man in his 20s, sustained serious injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle. The passenger, who was fatally injured, was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as 18-year-old David Corona.

Police said investigators think a vehicle may have been traveling behind the Acura and the occupants may have witnessed the crash. The vehicle is described as a white Toyota Corolla, and at this time it is not believed to have been involved in the crash, police said.

Detectives ask the occupants of that vehicle or anyone else who may have witnessed the wreck to call the Police Department’s dispatch center at (916) 264-5471, of Detective James Anderson of the Major Collision Investigation Unit at (916) 808-3776.
