Kudos to: Sacramento police, Police Activities League and others

Accomplishment: Delivered 20 bikes and school supplies to Mustard Seed School

Details: The donations will help educate students about bicycle safety at Mustard Seed, established in 1989 to meet the needs of homeless children. School supplies and bicycle helmets were also given to the school.

Kudos to: Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District firefighters and the Chester Foundation

Accomplishment: Helped dogs from home that burned

Details: Firefighters found dogs in a burning home while residents were away. A pet oxygen mask was needed for a Golden Retriever named Fonzie. Both dogs required intensive care. The Chester Foundation has set up a fund to help cover costs. To donate: www.chesterfound.org

Accomplishment: Gave a $100,000 grant to Junior Achievement of Sacramento

Details: The gift will provide seed money to bring Junior Achievement economic education to students in Colusa, Sutter, Yuba and western Nevada counties. Target pilot programs will increase the number of young people who reach adulthood ready for work and handling their finances.
