Arena would return city's investment

Re “Arena is a whale of a land deal” (Page A1, Jan. 11): A new arena in the downtown area would be a smart investment for the city of Sacramento. Downtown should be a place where people gather and be able to identify with their city. A new arena would allow residents that privilege. The estimate of the city's current value should be reevaluated to ensure that the city is not under-budgeting. The downtown location would attract people to the heart of the city and improve the city's infrastructure. The estimated return of $500 million would cover the cost of building arena. The new arena would allow for updated technology and aesthetics to attract more visitors and performers alike.
