Sacramento’s afternoon high is predicted to reach 70 degrees Wednesday, breaking the high temperature record for Jan. 22.
The record, set in 2011, is 69 degrees. Other high temperature records for Jan. 22 in the valley: Redding, 78, Red Bluff, 78, Sacramento Executive Airport, 71, Stockton, 67 and Modesto, 70 degrees.
Looking ahead, the National Weather Service is calling for winds to pick up on Thursday. In the Sacramento region, winds are predicted to blow from the northwest at up to 9 mph, gusting to 20 mph.
The windy conditions are due to a weak low pressure system moving across the area Thursday and into Friday, according to forecasters. Lighter winds, along with warming conditions, are predicted over the weekend.
