Davis scores high on Lung Association’s tobacco control report card

The City of Davis got a B grade on the American Lung Association’s annual report card on tobacco control, but other communities in the Sacramento region didn’t fare as well.

The State of Tobacco Control 2014 report shows that California is falling behind in protecting citizens from tobacco, according to a press release from the health group. The group gave the state got an A for smoke free air policies, but a D for its cigarette tax level, an F for tobacco prevention and control funding and an F for poor coverage of smoking cessation and treatment services.

In conjunction with national report, local grades were also handed out for 482 cities and the 58 counties in California on policies for smoke free outdoor air, smoke free housing and reducing sales of tobacco products.
