Lincoln, Loomis men arrested following robbery at Rocklin store

Published: Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 - 3:35 pm

Two men were arrested Tuesday night after they allegedly attempted to steal alcohol from a Rocklin store, assaulted a security officer and led police on a short vehicle pursuit.

Police responded about 10:16 p.m. to a report of a strong-arm robbery in progress in the 5400 block of Crossings Drive. Two males reportedly tried to steal alcohol and assaulted a loss prevention agent who attempted to detain them as they left the business, according to a Police Department news release.

One of the suspects fled the parking lot in a vehicle, which was spotted by an officer as it entered eastbound Interstate 80. The driver did not yield to the officer’s emergency lights and siren, and a vehicle pursuit began.

Two Placer County sheriff’s deputies joined the chase and stopped the suspect vehicle in Loomis, where the driver was taken into custody without incident. Police said the other suspect was arrested at the store.

William Robert Hawkyard (pictured), 18, of Lincoln, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, burglary, conspiracy and evading a peace officer. He is being held in Placer County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Kenna Martine Beck (pictured), 18, of Loomis, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy and possession of marijuana. He was booked into Placer County jail with bail set at $10,000.
