Re McCarty to be questioned on arena deal (Page B3, Jan. 15) and Let the public see all the petitions for ballot measure on arena (Editorials, Jan. 9): I was disappointed to see you once again make it sound as if STOP and others working in the interest of city residents who wish to vote on the arena funding plan are to blame for leaving the public in the dark.
A judge has required a city councilman to tell what he knows about an alleged secret deal between city officials and the Kings owners. Why must a judge be involved for a city official to tell what happened? Because the city is fighting to keep him quiet which a reasonable person might consider an effort to keep the public in the dark.
I would like to see less focus on how our signatures were collected and more on whether or not this massive project should be the subject of a vote by those who will bear its direct and indirect costs.
