Drought dries up development?

Re “Capital weather set on repeat cycles: Warm and dry” (Our Region, Jan. 22): Two-thirds of water in our state comes from Northern California, and two-thirds of the water is consumed in Southern California, where there is little or no water conservation efforts. Water releases from Folsom Dam have been cut to 500 cubic feet per second, creating the lowest flows seen in a generation, but the city of Folsom needs to reconsider where future water will come from for planned development south of Highway 50. In the interim, we need stricter water rationing. Many gutters still flow with water runoff from lawns. -- Barbara Nilsson, Folsom
