Drop taxes, not plastic bags

Re “Capitol revisits plastic bag ban” (Page A1, Jan. 24): Democrat legislators propose to ban useful and cheap plastic bags from stores, charge customers money for using other bags for groceries and then give $2 million to manufacturers to not make the bags? Not only is this nuts economically, but many people love those plastic bags. These bags are sanitary, light, and can be carried full of groceries five at a time in your fingers. They can also easily be stored at home for all sorts of other uses. My favorite is to clean up after my dog every day on our walk. Please do not ban these useful bags and impose yet another tax on us. Spend your time figuring ways to reduce the tax and regulation on business, so they won't all move to Texas.
