Leading Off: 10 pressing questions in the world of sports

• After Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman’s performance and interviews last Sunday, won’t it be fun to watch him get burned by the Broncos’ Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl?

• Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has taken some heat for that interception in the 49ers’ loss to the Seahawks, but have these folks forgotten that he nearly single-handedly kept them in the game?

• Critics contend that Kaepernick forced that pass into tight coverage, but shouldn’t we take into consideration that he’s started just 29 NFL games?

• Joe Montana went 18-11 in his first 29 starts for the 49ers (yes, that includes a Super Bowl victory), so doesn’t that make Kaepernick’s 22-7 record as a starter darn impressive?

• With all their free agents, can the 49ers afford running back Frank Gore’s expected $6.45 million salary next season?

• When the NFL resorts to having Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders select the teams, isn’t it time to do away with the Pro Bowl?

• No players from the Super Bowl teams participate and eight of nine 49ers selected won’t, either, so is the Pro Bowl really an all-star event?

• Speaking of all-star games, how can the NBA justify it if Kings center DeMarcus Cousins is left off the roster for next month’s game?

• While we applaud the Kings embracing technology – Bitcoin and Google Glass, OMG! – doesn’t winning games create the best “fan experience?”

• The affiliation with two MLS teams is a big deal for Republic FC, but does it really improve the odds that Sacramento will land an MLS franchise?
