Fit fundraiser

What: The Inderkum High School PTSA Safe and Sober Grad Night Committee will host a Health Fitness & Beauty Expo at the North Natomas campus. The community event will feature health and beauty information from a variety of experts, and fitness classes from Zumba to martial arts. Proceeds will benefit the Class of 2014’s Safe and Sober Grad Night.

Where: 2500 New Market Drive, Sacramento.

When: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cost: Admission is free; fitness classes are $6 per class; $2 for students

Pig Bowl XL

What: The 40th Pig Bowl, a Guns and Hoses charity football game, will pit the law enforcement Hogs against the fire service Dogs. The competition benefits area charities, schools and nonprofit organizations. Aid recipients include Volunteers in Victims Assistance, WIND Youth Services, Sacramento Sheriff’s Toy Project, Families in Early Autism Treatment, Firefighters Burn Institute, Sacramento Law Enforcement Chaplaincy, Sacramento Area Fire Fighters Chaplaincy, Sacramento County Sheriff Explorer Program, Sacramento City Fire Reserve Program and more.

Where: 6000 J St., Sacramento.

When: Gates open at 11 a.m.; pregrame events begin at noon, game begins at 1 p.m.

Cost: Tickets are $10; free for children 5 and younger.



Author to talk photos

What: Author Steve Unger will discuss “Before the Paparazzi: Fifty Years of Extraordinary Photographs,” a collection of photos taken by Arty Pomerantz. The event takes place at the Valley Hi-North Laguna Library.

Where: 7400 Imagination Parkway, Sacramento.

When: 2 to 4 p.m.
