A woman was struck by a car and killed Saturday evening as she tried to cross Florin Road near 29th Street in Sacramento.
Sacramento police were called at 5:48 p.m. to the scene of the fatal collision near the rail crossing at Florin just east of 29th Street, said Sacramento Police Lt. Alisa Buckley.
Buckley said the woman apparently stepped onto the roadway and into the path of a motorist driving east on Florin. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Sacramento fire personnel. The woman’s name had not been released pending notification of family, but Buckley said she may have been in her 70s.
The driver was not cited in the collision, Buckley said.
