TODAY’S GAME

KINGS (15-27) vs. NUGGETS (20-21)

• Time: 6 p.m.

• Where: Sleep Train Arena

• TV/radio: Ch. 10, 1140

THREE KEYS

• 1. Hot hand: If the Kings still are without DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay, they’ll need to look elsewhere for scoring. Friday night, Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Thornton picked up the slack, but those two won’t combine for 80 points every night.

• 2. Get back: Malone wasn’t happy with the Kings’ transition defense against Indiana during Friday’s loss, something a running team like Denver will be better equipped to exploit. The Kings’ perimeter players need to fall back on defense and can’t get caught watching their teammates’ shot attempts or crashing the boards unnecessarily.

• 3. My, Ty: Denver’s offense starts with point guard Ty Lawson pushing the pace and penetrating to get teammates open looks. The Kings’ guards must try to stay in front of Lawson and not allow him to run wild and create.
