Former Sacramento High School standout Fantasia Hilliard broke the Sacramento State women’s program record for career assists, and freshman Gigi Hascheff scored a career-high 26 points to lead the Hornets to a 74-64 Big Sky Conference win over visiting Northern Colorado on Saturday.

The junior point guard had four assists in the win over the Bears (10-8, 4-5 Big Sky), the Sac State athletics website reported. Hilliard entered the game three assists short of Heather Baker’s program record of 453. Baker, a former Colfax High School star, finished her Sacramento State career in 1993.

With Baker on hand Saturday, Hilliard tied the mark in the first half and broke it with 13:32 to play in the second half.

Northern Colorado 72, Sacramento State 62 in Greeley, Colo. – Dylan Garrity’s jumper with 27 seconds left pulled the Hornets (6-11, 2-6 Big Sky) within 68-62, but the Bears (13-4, 7-1) made 4 of 4 free throws to close the game.

Mikh McKinney and Cody Demps (Pleasant Grove) led the Hornets with 16 points apiece.
