Davis police seek suspect in attempted robbery

Published: Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 - 5:49 pm

Davis police are seeking a suspect who reportedly tried to rob a bicyclist at gunpoint Saturday morning.

The incident occurred about 5:30 a.m. The victim, a visitor to Davis, reported that he was riding his bicycle and was stopped at an unknown intersection for a red light when an older model Ford pulled up alongside him and stopped. The driver of the vehicle pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his property, according to a Police Department news release. When the victim showed that he had no property, the driver left the area.

The suspect was described as an African American man, clean shaven with short dark hair. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and possibly a gold bracelet on one wrist.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Davis Police Department at (530) 747-5425.
