Jacksonville, Fla.-based Firehouse Subs, a fast-casual restaurant chain featuring hot submarine sandwiches, will open its first Sacramento restaurant Thursday at 3830 Truxel Road.
The restaurant will be open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Officials said the first 25 customers in line on Thursday will receive a free medium sub combo.
Firehouse subs was founded by former firefighting brothers Chris and Robin Sorensen The Sacramento restaurant features a mural replicating a vintage photograph from 1923, showing Sacramento Fire Department Engine Co. No. 1, along with firefighters from that era.
Founded in 1994, Firehouse Subs has more than 700 restaurants in 39 states. The company has donated nearly $8.3 million to public safety organizations.
More Firehouse Subs outlets are planned in the Sacramento region and throughout Northern California in the future, officials said.
