The Lincoln Fire Department has re-arranged staffing in order to open a fire station closed for the past six years.

Lincoln’s fire station No. 33 next to McBean Park at the south end of East Avenue, closed since 2008, re-opened earlier this week.

The department will re-distribute current personnel across the three stations in the town, instead of two.

In 2013, the fire department responded to 2,493 calls for emergency medical service and 129 fire calls. Another 990 calls for service involved false alarms, pubic assistance and other calls.

Interim Fire Chief Michael Davis cautioned that station closures will likely continue to occur when employees go on leave, reducing the available number of personnel.
