This 1907 home, which now features a clothing boutique, may soon become the Federalist Public House with an outdoor beer garden on N Street in Midtown Sacramento. According to early reports, the restaurant would feature classic pub food as well as local craft beers.

Cheers! Midtown may get second beer garden

You can almost hear the frosty mugs clinking. Midtown Sacramento may soon to be home to a second beer garden.

After the successful Jan. 24 opening of Der Biergarten at 24th and K streets, another outdoor drinking space is in the works at 2009 N St.

According to reports from Sacramento News & Review and Sacramento Business Journal, local building designer Marvin Maldonado hopes to open Federalist Public House this summer. Serving classic pub fare (think roast chicken and shepherd’s pie) and pizza, the restaurant would be located downstairs in the 1907 home Maldonado shares with his family. That house currently features a clothing store, Midtown Pop, the brick-and-mortar home base of wife Bridgette’s popular Gypsy mobile boutique.

Out a side door from the restaurant will be the proposed beer garden, featuring Northern California brews and laid-back vibe. Maldonado’s plans are now going through the city review process.

Maldonado, who graduated from Florin High School, has plenty of restaurant-related experience in his hometown. His design business, inFORM, specializes in small, in-fill projects in Midtown. Among his credits are the expanded dining room at the now-shuttered Blackbird Kitchen & Bar and the kitchen makeover and private dining room at the Fox & Goose Pub. He partnered with Chris Jarosz of Wicked ’Wich food truck fame to open Broderick Roadhouse in West Sacramento. (Read Blair Anthony Robertson’s roadhouse review here.)
