Davis City Manager Steve Pinkerton has been tapped for the position of general manager of the Incline Village General Improvement District in Nevada.
Joe Wolfe, chairman of the district’s board of trustees, said the board voted Wednesday to enter into contract negotiations with Pinkerton, who has served as Davis’ city manager since 2011.
Pinkerton, 54, was one of two finalists for the Incline Village post, which has been vacant since October. Wolfe said he hopes to have a contract to present to the board for approval at its Feb. 12 meeting
Pinkerton could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
Wolfe said he was impressed with Pinkerton’s achievements in Davis, as well as in previous positions with the cities of Manteca and Stockton. He particularly cited Pinkerton’s skill in negotiating employee contracts.
Wolfe said challenges for the district’s general manager include dealing with a community that “has a multiplicity of different opinions of each and every topic.”
The district provides water and sewer, trash collection, and parks and recreation services for a year-round population of about 8,600 and approximately 17,000 people in the summer, Wolfe said. It oversees two golf courses, a ski resort and three beaches.
