Re Water is low, but politics run deep (Editorials, Jan. 23): The Bee Editorial Board accuses House Speaker John Boehner and other Republicans of playing politics concerning the drought in California. Yet, the board doesnt call Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, both Democrats, on their political reactions to the drought. The senators offered only more talk about drought feasibility studies and another task force on the subject. The editorial also states that delaying the San Joaquin River Restoration Project would leave salmon high and dry, which is an environmental scare tactic. Even if this were true, it might still better than leaving the entire population of California high and dry, which is a reality. There can be a compromise if the sacred cow of environmentalism is looked at honestly.
