City has fine architectural heritage

Re “Final arena drawings unveiled” (Page A1, Jan. 28): Developer Mark Friedman said “When you look around Sacramento, we don't really have a great architectural tradition. Perhaps when he looked around, he didn’t see the renovated Crocker Art Museum, the Sacramento International Airport, the new 7th and H streets housing community or La Valentina Station housing, which was featured in Architectural Record last March. Maybe he didn’t see the Elks Tower, Julia Morgan’s Public Market building or the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Perhaps, he also didn’t consider the bungalows, Victorians and mid-century modern homes in neighborhoods throughout Sacramento. I am sure there are many Sacramentans who would enjoy pointing out some of the city’s examples of its fine architectural traditions.
