DALLAS -- Kings coach Michael Malone said after this mornings shootaround that center DeMarcus Cousins (sprained left ankle) would be a game-time decision.
But its more likely Cousins will miss his fifth game in a row when the Kings face the Dallas Mavericks tonight at American Airlines Center.
Im not very optimistic at the moment but stranger things have happened, Malone said. He wasnt able to go through a whole lot yesterday and at shootaround today he was limited. Hell be a game-time decision but Im not very optimistic at this point.
Aaron Gray will start at center, barring a radical improvement from Cousins.
Malone also commented on Cousins not making the All-Star team even though his statistics rank among the best players in the NBA.
Cousins is averaging 22.6 points, 11.6 rebounds and three assists. His scoring leads all centers.
You look at those numbers alone hes worthy of an All-Star spot, Malone said. But the coaches vote and they decided to leave him off. I think a large part of that is our record, to be honest.
The Kings are 15-30 this season.
Cousins did not speak to the media this morning as he stayed behind after shootaround for extra work.
*Also, the Mavericks will be without starting forward Shawn Marion tonight.
