Two UC Davis athletes opened the indoor track and field season by setting school records Saturday at the University of Washington Invitational in Seattle.

Praise Adesida reached 48 feet, 101/4 inches in the shot put, finishing fifth, according to UCD’s athletics website. That broke the previous record of 48-9 set by Chidinma Onyewuenyi in 2011.

In the 3,000 meters, Alycia Cridebring finished in a personal-best 9 minutes, 16.39 seconds – eighth in her heat. Cridebring beat the previous school record set by Olympian Kim Conley (9:19.16).

Eight Aggies hit marks that rank them among the top five on the school’s all-time list.

The women’s 4x400 relay team capped the day with a victory, finishing in 3:46.43.
