Sacramento-area motorists continue to enjoy relatively affordable prices at the gasoline pumps.
The average retail price of gas in the area fell another 1.6 cents to $3.39 a gallon over the past week, according to gas price tracker GasBuddy.com, which surveys 720 gas outlets in the area. The current price is 35 cents per gallon lower than one year ago and 14.4 cents less than one month ago.
Nationally, the average price of gas fell 0.4 cents over the past week, to $3.26 a gallon – 21.4 cents less than last year and 4 cents below a month ago.
Analysts predict that price increases are likely to crop up later this month as refineries gear up to produce pricier spring-summer gas blends.
