The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office has announced implementation of a new communications service, NIXLE, that allows the agency to send important community information to residents who subscribe to the free service.
The Sheriff’s Office can use NIXLE to send information instantly to registered residents via cell phone text message and/or email. Notifications also can be accessed online at NIXLE’s website. Notifications may include important advisories, missing person alerts, real-time emergency information, suspect descriptions, and other relevant public safety and community event information, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
Depending on the nature of the alert, it can be sent to all registered users or just to those in the specific geographic area where the incident is occurring.
Residents can decide from which local agencies they wish to receive information and the method by which they wish to receive alerts – email, text message or web based.
