Re "Public pension database up" (Capitol & California, Feb. 4): Because I was a single mother, and I had a young child and needed to stay closer to home I chose to go to work for the county even though I knew I could make a lot more money in private industry.
We only have to look at the recent hacking of Target and others to know nothing is secure. The Public Policy Center's website disclosing CalPERS retirees' pension information is ripe for the picking, and every retiree will be unnecessarily exposed to violence and crime. Our mailbox will be the bait, and we will be a sitting duck. I did not give permission for this release of information, but I will have to live with its consequences.
