A back-to-back storm duo that could bring up to two inches of rain by Sunday will make its presence known today with gathering clouds and a light rain later this afternoon.
The first piece, known also as an atmospheric river storm, brings colder, drier weather and a morning chill today. Temperatures will reach a high of 57 this afternoon as cloud cover increases. There is a 30 percent chance of light rain, which the National Weather Service said could bring around one quarter of an inch to the foothills between today and Thursday.
Wetter weather is coming for the weekend with a milder storm starting Friday night, which could bring up to two inches by Sunday. Mountains could get up to six inches of liquid equivalent, said the NSW. Weather for the weekend will be cloudy and cool.
“We haven’t seen anything quite this wet in a while,” said NSW spokesman Eric Kurth.

Thursday: High of 54, low of 42, 30 percemt chance of rain.
Friday: High of 57, low of 42, with a 50 percent chance of showers
Saturday: High of 55, low of 47, with a 70 percent chance of precipitation.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Rain likely.
