Re "Want a revolution? Don't look to pop" (Viewpoints, Feb. 5): As a veteran high school teacher, I often have conversations with my students about pop music today. Many agree with columnist Leonard Pitts' observations that music has become repetitive and pro forma.
What is amazing is how many of them have Beatles songs on their iPods and phones and find personal meaning in the lyrics. As wonderful as I find this, I am saddened they have few songs of their own that portend "Something New Happening".
