JAMIE ANDERSON

•  Details: A favorite to win gold in Sochi, Anderson has turned heads since becoming the youngest Winter X games medalist when she won bronze in 2006 at 15. Anderson since has won four gold medals at the Winter X Games and is a three-time Dew Tour season champion (2009-11) and seven-time Dew Tour gold medalist. One of eight siblings, Anderson also won gold at the 2013 World Cup at Copper Mountain, Colo.

MADDIE BOWMAN

•  Details: Bowman is among the first athletes to represent the United States in halfpipe skiing, which makes its Olympic debut in Sochi and involves athletes performing various tricks while wearing skis in a halfpipe. Bowman is a three-time World Cup medalist in halfpipe (two gold, one bronze) and finished 2012 ranked second in halfpipe by the Association of Freeskiing Professionals.

•  Details: A track athlete in college, Cunningham took up bobsledding in 2008 and competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics as a push man, placing 12th in the two-man event in 3:29.78. He’s competing in Sochi as a driver. Cunningham won silver medals in the 2013-14 World Cup in the two-man event in Park City on Dec. 7 and in Lake Placid on Dec. 14.

She was fifth in the superpipe at the Aspen X Games.

JOHN TELLER

After her first Olympics, Teter founded a maple syrup company and is known for her philanthropic efforts.
