Postgame notes: Isaiah Thomas doesn’t like ‘fake tough guy’ Bayless

The Notorious B.I.G. once posed the question “What’s Beef?” and Kings guard Isaiah Thomas has me wondering the same thing.

Thomas and Boston guard Jerryd Bayless were both assessed technical fouls after their brief altercation (I hesitate to call it a scuffle) during the Kings’ 99-89 loss to the Celtics at TD Garden.

“I don’t like him,” Thomas said of his former AAU teammate. “End of story. He’s a fake tough guy.”

So where does all this animosity come from?

“He knows,” Thomas said.

And why doesn’t Thomas like Bayless?

“Because I don’t,” Thomas said. “That’s why.”

This can’t be the way Thomas wanted to celebrate his 25th birthday.

*Kings coach Michael Malone said not having Rudy Gay (illness) really hurt his second unit.

Gay normally starts the second and fourth quarters with the reserves while DeMarcus Cousins and Isaiah Thomas rest.

The Kings were outscored 10-0 to start the second quarter and 18-4 to start the fourth quarter.

The Kings’ bench was outscored 37-12.

*The Kings will practice at Verizon Center on Saturday to prepare for Sunday’s game against the Washington Wizards.
