Woodland teens accused of stealing vehicle in Davis

Published: Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 - 5:41 pm

Two 16-year-old Woodland youths were arrested Sunday night in connection with a vehicle theft in Davis.

Davis police were called to the 1200 block of Halifax Avenue at 11:20 p.m. regarding a report that a vehicle had been stolen. As officers responded to the area, they spotted the vehicle traveling on West Covell Boulevard. The vehicle continued toward Woodland and was stopped near the intersection of county roads 99 and 25 A, according to a Davis Police Department news release.

Officers detained and eventually arrested the two teenage boys, whose names were not released because they are juveniles. Property belonging to another theft victim was found inside the vehicle, police said.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle and driving without a license. The other youth was arrested on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle and petty theft.

The driver was booked into Yolo County Juvenile Hall, and the passenger was cited and released to an adult.

Davis police urge residents and visitors to the city to lock their vehicles and remove personal property from inside, especially the vehicle keys.
