Suspected robber tries to swim away in Roseville

Published: Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 - 10:49 am

Roseville police arrested a man who dove into a swollen creek after allegedly holding up a drug store.

Sean Michael Krueger, 30, of Auburn was arrested on suspicion of robbery, delaying officers and possessing stolen property.

Krueger is suspected of entering a pharmacy in the Roseville Square shopping center at Douglas and Harding boulevards about 4:15 p.m. Monday and demanding prescription drugs from the clerk at the counter.

He also is alleged to have threatened to shoot the store employee, although no gun was seen. The robber left the store with the drugs but was spotted by citizens going into nearby Saugstad Park.

Still holding the drugs, police said, Krueger dove into Dry Creek, which was running high due to weekend rains. However, Krueger thought better of his swim in the chilly waters and headed back to shore where he surrendered to officers.

Officers searched the creek and recovered the medication, according to a police department newsletter.
