Pro: Ball celebrates the 100th anniversary of its “Perfection” canning jar with these period “spring green” jars. Made in the United States, they’re available in pints and quarts and both wide- and regular-mouth styles. A special commemorative design is embossed on front and back of each jar. The color is a throwback, too; it’s reminiscent of vintage “vaseline” glass (but without any potential side effects). These jars, which come with sets of lids, can be used for a lot more than canning; they’re handy see-through storage for all sorts of items. The quart size also makes a cute vase; the pints can be country-style drinking glasses.

Con: This is a special edition; once these greenies are gone, they’re gone. Although this glassware is a very attractive green, it doesn’t complement all contents. (For example, apricot jam would look brown.)
