Re "Time to tear down our walls" (Viewpoints, Feb. 9): In response to Jeffrey Meyer's piece trying to find compromise on climate change, The Sacramento Bee published two letters denying basic science. One claimed the planet hasn't warmed in 17 years. It has. Another claimed there's no physical relationship between CO2 and global warming. It's called the greenhouse effect.
It's high time that we move beyond denying that the problem exists and instead find common ground to solve it as Jeffrey Meyer suggested, for example, with a free-market, small government revenue neutral carbon tax supported by conservative economists like Greg Mankiw and George Shultz.
