Re "Housing plans piling up: Which will get built? (Page A1, Feb. 12): As the local economy rebounds, our company - like many others in Sacramento is committed to positioning itself for what we anticipate will be a period of renewed and sustained growth.
As such, the large number of housing units awaiting approval should not be balked at. Insiders may peg local housing demands at 11,000 units per year, but only a third of those were built last year, certainly not a case of runaway development. While I support responsible growth, I also support the tangible community benefits these units represent: jobs and home ownership opportunities.
Homes are the first step toward creating jobs and appealing communities that will bring those looking to own and invest in our region.
