Photo gallery: Extravanganza feeds the ‘need for speed’

Auto enthusiasts turned out this weekend to view the mean machines at the 64th Sacramento Autorama. The three-day event featured some of the West’s top automotive craftspersons and 500 custom hot rods, classics, motorcycles and specialty vehicles from across the nation. The theme of the event was, “Need for Speed.”Autorama was started by Sacramento businessman Harold Bagdasarian in 1950, then president of Capitol City Auto Club Thunderbolts. The event, which presents awards in dozens of automotive categories, is billed as one of the longest-running indoor car shows in the world.
