The Kings have agreed to trade guard Marcus Thornton to the Brooklyn Nets for guard Jason Terry and forward Reggie Evans.

The NBA trade deadline is Thursday at 9 a.m.

Thornton, 26, was the Kings’ leading scorer for the 2011-12 season when he averaged 18.7 points, but he has struggled this season as his role in the offense has diminished. Thornton is averaging a career-low 8.3 points as the second-highest paid player on the Kings at $8.2 million.

Thornton has one more year left on his four-year contract at $8.7 million.

Dealing Thornton would give more playing time to Ben McLemore, the Kings’ first-round draft pick. General manager Pete D’Alessandro said after Tuesday’s practice that McLemore was not a part of any proposed deals.

Terry, 36, is averaging a career-low 4.5 points for the Nets in 16.3 minutes, also a career low. Terry has one year left on a three-year deal he signed with Boston before last season at $5.5 million.

Evans, 33, is noted as an energy player that excels at rebounding in spite of being listed at 6-foot-8. Evans averaged 11.1 rebounds last season but is down to five per game this season.

Evans is due $1.8 million next season.

Thornton opened the season as the starting shooting guard, but a shooting slump led to his benching and not playing at all in some games.
