Louis Buchetto of Land Park didn’t hesitate when he helped Sacramento Police Officer Paul Curtis tackle a man on a bicycle who had been eluding police officers in Land Park on Feb. 10.

Buchetto received a certificate of appreciation from Police Chief Sam Somers Jr. during a gathering at the Police Department’s Hall of Honor while surrounded by police officers and staff.

Nervous, his lip trembling but otherwise composed, Buchetto accepted the honor but declined to speak to the group.

Moments later during a television interview, he reflected on a quote which came to mind. “Courage is action and a prayer.” He added, “That’s pretty much what I did. It’s just one moment in time.”
