Kings acquire Roger Mason Jr. in exchange for cash

The Kings have agreed to acquire Miami guard Roger Mason Jr. and cash from the Miami Heat in exchange for a heavily-protected second-round draft pick.

Mason will be waived, making him a free agent. The move opens up a roster spot for Miami to add a player in their pursuit of a third consecutive NBA Championship.

Mason averaged three points in 25 games for the Heat.

The Kings are still in search of more draft picks. Jimmer Fredette would be moved if the team could land at least one second-round pick in return for him.

The Kings want to see rookie Ray McCallum play a lot more over the last 28 games, so Fredette is expendable if the Kings can find a trade partner.
