In his State of the Union speech, President Barack Obama touted his plans to combat America's growing inequality. At the same time, he is pushing a measure that would make inequality worse, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, with 11 Asian and Latin American nations. After 20 years of the North American Free Trade Agreement, we've seen that these deals destroy middle class jobs and contribute to inequality.
These deals push jobs off-shore, and push down wages in the jobs that remain. Obama wants Congress to grant him fast tract authority so he can sign the TPP before Congress gets to vote, and then railroad the pact through Congress with limited debate and no amendments.
Our representatives should vote 'no' to Fast Tract.
