The Davis mother accused of killing her daughter is facing new felony charges stemming from an incident while in custody.

Aquelin Talamantes will return to Yolo Superior Court on Tuesday to be arraigned on two felony charges of battery on a correctional officer and one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, according to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office.

A report was submitted by the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office to the DA’s office for review, and prosecutors have since filed the charges. The charges are related to an altercation with deputies at the county jail, said Chief Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Raven.

No further information was immediately available Monday.

Talamantes wasn’t expected back in court until April 25, when a trial readiness conference is scheduled in her murder case. She is accused of drowning her 5-year-old daughter, Tatiana Garcia, putting the girl in the trunk of her car and driving to Sacramento’s Pocket neighborhood. Family members and police discovered the girl’s body after Talamantes arrived at her sister’s apartment with only her son.
