Sacramento State freshman second baseman Brandon Hunley broke a tie with a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to lift the Hornets(5-4) to a 7-4 win over Nevada (2-6) on Tuesday night at Raley Field, Sac State reported.
Hunley hit the home run after the previous batter, sophomore Nathan Lukes, was intentionally walked by Nevada reliever Adam Whitt to put runners at the corners with two outs.
Hunley’s blast was the first home run hit by the Hornets this season.
Chen finishes in top 10 again for UCD
UC Davis golfer Betty Chen posted her second straight top-10 finish and her fourth of the season, carding a 3-under-par 69 to tie for fourth at the UC Irvine Invitational in Santa Ana, UCD reported. Chen finished the 54-hole tournament with an even-par 216 total, four shots behind winner Mariah Stackhouse of Stanford.
The Aggies shot an 899 total to finish sixth in the 13-team tournament.
