What happened to a woman from Rancho Cordova, who disappeared in the mid-’90s prior to her wedding? She was last seen during a pre-wedding party.

Doris Inzunza disappeared from her Rancho Cordova home in August 1997 and has not been found.

According to stories in The Bee, Inzunza, 41, was last seen about 12:30 a.m. Aug. 26 by a neighbor on Mayo Court. The neighbor reportedly spoke for more than an hour with Inzunza, who was excited about plans to remarry.

Inzunza failed to show up the next day for her job at United Services Auto Association. She left behind her purse and four children, leading to fears that she had been kidnapped.

Stormy relationships in the past had led her to obtain restraining orders against two men and prompted her to co-found a stalking survivors group.

Extensive search efforts by family, friends and law enforcement officers failed to turn up any solid leads. Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives eventually classified the case as a homicide.
