With one downpour in the rear view mirror, still another is ready to head inland from the Pacific Ocean as another shot of rain heads to Sacramento oaks, pastures, lawns and birdbaths on Friday.

Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service noted that a long line of showers or thunderstorms had formed from the southern tip of Plumas County all the way south to Stanislaus County. One NWS weather watcher near Redding received .53 of an inch of rain from midnight to 1 a.m. Thursday.

That kind of rainy activity delivered some much-needed precipitation to the region:

Sacramento: .42 of an inch

Rancho Cordova: .59

Fair Oaks: .75

Orangevale: .56

Folsom Lake: .35

Roseville: .43

Newcastle: .87

Elk Grove: .47

Showers are likely Thursday. Even a thunderstorm could rattle the Sacramento region.

The second storm is forecast to arrive Friday morning and last into Saturday. The NWS predicts an additional inch of rain for the Sacramento region.

It’s snowing in the Sierra Nevada Thursday morning. Forecasters say the second wave of snowy weather on Friday will be colder, dropping snow levels to the 5,000-feet elevation.
