State Board of Equalization member George Runner on Tuesday will host a telephone town hall meeting geared to provide helpful tax information to California’s agricultural industry.

The free event, co-hosted by the Sacramento-based California Farm Bureau Federation, is set for 10 a.m. State lawmakers from the Central Valley also will participate.

The event will cover a wide range of topics, including sales and use tax, partial farming exemptions and sales of feed and animals.

“At a time of extreme drought and water shortages, California’s agricultural industry needs all the help they can get,” Runner said. “My goal is to assist farmers, ranchers and business owners by helping them understand California’s complicated tax laws.”

Those wishing to participate may register online at or call (916)-324-4970. Those who pre-register will receive a telephone call at the start of the event.
