Kings center DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended for Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers and fined by the NBA for two separate incidents, the league announced today.

Cousins was suspended for punching Rockets guard Patrick Beverley in the stomach in the first quarter of the Kings’ 129-103 loss to Houston on Tuesday night, NBA President of Basketball Operations Rod Thorn announced in a news release.

Cousins was also fined $20,000 for “verbally abusing a game official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner” after being ejected from Tuesday’s game with 8:21 left in the third quarter.

The league said Cousins will serve the one-game suspension Friday when the Kings play the Lakers at Staples Center. It will be the ninth game Cousins has missed this year and the first for non-injury reasons.

Cousins has 15 technical fouls on the season, one away from an automatic one-game suspension. The Kings are 0-8 this season when playing without their starting center.
