Parents of baby found dead in home accused of child endangerment, Sacramento police say

Two Sacramento parents allegedly were high on drugs when police and paramedics found their 3-month-old infant dead in their South Natomas home earlier this month, according to police.

Now they are in custody, accused of felony child endangerment in connection with the baby girl’s death, said police Officer Doug Morse.

It remains unclear how Anthoniece Mial died Feb. 15, and whether her parents’ alleged impairment played a role in her death. The coroner’s office is still awaiting test results.

But results of toxicology tests taken that day indicate that Anthony Mial, 57, and Felecia Williams, 36, had narcotics in their system, Morse said. Investigators suspect they used drugs the night before and in the early morning hours leading up to the discovery. Anthony Mial allegedly awoke at 2:30 p.m. to find the baby unresponsive in the bed all three had shared at a home in the 1100 block of Hawk Avenue.

When she was found unresponsive, Anthoniece was in the bed next to a sleeping Williams. Police suspect that the baby died several hours beforehand, Morse said.

Detectives obtained warrants for the arrest of the suspects Wednesday, and arrested them today at a home in the 500 block of Lindsay Avenue, Morse said.

They are being held in the Sacramento County Main Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. They are scheduled to be arraigned Monday on one count each of felony child endangerment.
